You've expressed this so beautifully...

I have had to move a few countries, continents even since childhood and each time the assimilation into a new culture or language has been jarring. Had to rebuild each time...I too agree that ego doesn't really have a place in those circumstances but then again I interact frequently with people who have massive egos...dang...how do they walk around with the weight of that thing?
