On the one hand platform blogging is completely diff from a stand alone essay - by that I mean, if you have a readership, it's good to know what they want to read and write accordingly

I'll give you an example, a while ago, I asked a 'real writer' (yup, not a hobbyist like me) to edit my story - and they did pretty thoroughly

It was one of my worst performing stories - you know, why? There was very little of me in it - it wasn't quirky and messy or engaging...it wasn't spontaneous as I tend to be....so I figured out my strategy is better - just write in the flow and get it out there :)
