Yes, I do agree with your points. My first article to be chosen for further distribution took three months and that too 2 weeks after it got published. But I think once that happened, it sort of paved the way for being chosen for further distribution regularly. I don't write for The Lark but that is interesting to know that theirs got chosen by default. I know that the big pubs like The Start Up also has that feature.
