…phrases. I keep some sentences in my head for longer and try to listen carefully to how they sound. When I think I am ready to write, I bring them all to my white page and, one after another, arrange them until they emerge into an acceptable form. Like my mother, I decide on a core element, a less conspicuous connecting layer, and a supporting border.
