This resonates - my culture frowns upon women drinking - women of my gen and previous ones weren't welcome in bars or those who openly dared drink were considered loose or whatnot - in that way I didn't get opportunities to try alcohol until I came here - now here I find that the culture is totally diff - party and fun are not synonymous unless drinks are involved and I find that strange

I always get offered drinks at parties - I politely decline and I can mentally feel my host judging me - it is a party afterall and need to be able to loosen up and have fun, right?

Not me - I rarely go to parties - I can slug away coca cola like nobody's business but somehow that is not considered cool 🤷‍♀️
