This is a melancholic time for me - once the holiday songs starts playing it begins and I only get out of it come January

It's a bunch of factors that makes this season bittersweet - of course I go through the motions of setting up the tree ( I love looking at it in the nights) and am amused by how over the top & expensive the gift giving has become - it wasn't like this in Africa - then, it was a simple celebration over good home cooked food
