The thing in my culture is that for many women, especially of the poorer socio economic classes, they are entirely dependent on their husbands, brothers or fathers because whether there is money to be spared for their education or permitted to get a job is determined by the men of the family - again, once married, the husband and in laws get to decide if she should have a career or not - so while financial independence is important and necessary - sometimes it is not a choice
