My experience is the opposite but not any less painful - being the golden child puts all the lights on you especially in my culture - you have to be perfect which in itself is too much pressure - you make up for the slack of your siblings by working twice as hard to maintain family honor and expectations - you have to be the epitome of good behavior, perfect scores and marry well -

You get a lot of jealousy, hate and snide remarks too and that too from close relatives who can't stand that (nobody sees the blood, sweat tears and severe panic attacks behind the scenes)
