So in my culture and among women of my gen and previous ones, societal norms dictated our main goal in life was to grow up (as good girls), get an education (or not) and prepare ourselves for family life (husband and a bunch of kids) - women who chose career (over married life) were looked upon as outcasts (and threats because they did not have a husband to keep her in line)

My only response to the above is ha ha

You can be in a marriage and be the the most unhappiest, loneliest and misetrable person...
