My heart goes out to Aunt Mavis - one of my friends is facing a similar problem - he is one of 5 siblings and their mother is doing poorly healthwise - despite the fact that they all live nearby only 2 siblings visit the mother and help out. The other three are busy with work and their own families - it is truly sad as the mother loves it when her children visit or call her -
