It's very hard to imagine that other cultures may celebrate Christmas differently contrary to the way things are done (and popularized all over the world) as here in the US. For example, the idea of a Christmas tree as you mentioned, has become popular in Africa but when I was growing up it wasn't common. Also there were no gift exchanges but we did have a lovely family dinner.

Thanks for sharing the culture over there. When will you share some of your Boston adventures ;))
