It can be any number of factors - the new changes has put engagement in the forefront - ppl want to read as many articles as possible and leave comments hoping it will be reciprocated - or leave a stamp that so and so was here - none are sustainable in the long run

Then again there are some who will say any comment is better than no comment 🤷‍♀️
