In my native country, I have heard family members talk of men who get drunk and regularly beat their wife and kids - no one does anything because they feel what a man does in his home is his business - even the women who are abused are either too afraid to stand up for themselves or are forced to keep quiet by their family members in order to preserve the marriage

I heard things are changing with more women's associations been formed that get involved in cases like this and take action against the abusers
