In my experience it is more cultural - love is conditional - you are a favored kid if you are obedient and academically bright etc - all subtle forms of manipulation - honestly I'm tired of that sh*t - am glad in a space for once that the circle I'm in accept me for the way I am - because manipulation just doesn't work here anymore(if you know what I mean)
