I'm a non native speaker and even though I've been in the US a very long time - I haven't quite acquired the American accent - for example a friend and I were discussing something and the word neandatrhal came up - we both had two completely different pronounciations for it - same with garage (it's amazing how some don't get it when I pronounce it my way which has British influences)...
