I would say each person's experience with dating is different - we all have our preferences, likes, interests - I have felt it is very hard to actually match with someone who meets all the criteria and even then there are no guarantees - also, even though we mean the best and your safety advice to friend #2 is sound, dating advice in general is a topic I tend to avoid because it in my experience everyone will have some but it doesn't necessarily apply to your situation - I just do what I think is best for me
