I was doing research for an article about holiday stress and the results were surprising - the biggest was financial concerns (gift purchase these days can lead to some serious debt) - in my culture ( and generation) Christmas is celebrated with a nice dinner but again the gift part was not widely practiced simply because not many could afford it or gave it much importance - things have changed drastically since....go big or go home style - sigh
