…of yourself utterly distressed, crying, and dependent on others to pick him/her up and soothe them. Mentally, walk over to (you) the child, pick him/her up, and embrace the child with love. Let them know that they are protected, safe, and secure in your arms. Be there, in loving presence. Soothe the inner child. Give yourself the love and security you have been longing for.
