I think it has a lot to do with cultural influences - for example, in my culture, we were only encouraged to pursue a hobby like say playing an instrument in order to win a competition and not for creativity's sake

I enjoyed reading Grimm as a child - it is interesting to see how we look back on those stories through the lens of an adult
