The first time my ex-boyfriend asked me out, I playfully told him he had to come and find me at the mall where I’d be shopping that afternoon. If he did, then I’d have coffee with him.
Since this was during the pandemic we all wore masks. So, not an easy feat.
But he was determined. He drove down to the sprawling clothing store. and though he made a few wrong turns mistaking other women for me, he finally found me.
We had coffee and many more after that.
One may think I was playing games, but dating was more like testing the waters. After a complicated divorce that took over a year to finalize, I wasn’t sure what I was looking for or what I’d find, and I wasn’t about to make it easy.
