I know of a girl who married into a family with a penchant for drama - especially in the art of one upping others - she chose to act dumb (she's pretty smart - a wharton graduate and so she very smartly picked the right strategy to keep drama at bay) - ppl quickly lost interest in involving her in any kind of gossip or back biting sessions)

I think it is called the gray rock method - I however don't have that kind of patience and it goes against my passionate nature - so I rely on very firm boundaries - that works too
