I have broken up with a close friend - I wrote about it - it was hurtful to discover she was a fairweather friend - I was clear about why I did not wish to pursue the friendship anymore - she did try to reach out but I couldn't trust her anymore so it was more an act of self protection than anything else

It is tough indeed to let go of a friendship so I would suggest weighing the pros and cons - as in, is it really worth it to have this friend or are you better off without their company?
