I had exactly such a situation present itself today - I was shocked by what someone told me and tbh I felt like crying by but then I calmed myself down by telling myself it is not my place to judge - they are not looking to me for advice but a listening ear so I gave them that ...but it was hard because the first instinct was to ask what the heck is wrong with them
