I enjoyed reading your perspective and also seeing how Christmas may not be celebrated in rural areas - it makes sense because the Christmases I enjoyed as a child has evolved into something that is heavily commercialized...so its no surprise that the areas with big malls and restaurants would showcase the Christmas spirit more to drive sales

I like the idea of intermingling of cultures - I don't personally celebrate diwali but my friends do so I participate in the festivities :)
