I don't think there is anything as a perfect parent anymore - they are either too strict, too career oriented, not attentive enough and the complaints go on - in my culture and ppl of my gen respect for elders was the norm and it didn't matter if the parents were less than stellar - you just dealt with it

But then I have seen my peers become parents - some repeat the sae mistakes as their parents while some create new mistakes - oh well -
