I can so relate to this - this is the most difficult thing for me - trust - I don't let anyone close because of this very thing - the few whom I surround myself with have been with me for a long time or being very patient as I took my time to get to know them - once bitten forever shy is apt in my case

I have no advice with regard to your brother and letting him in - but what you say is true - you don't want to get hurt so best tread cautiously
