I came to the US many years ago -

Having said that I still have deeply instilled traditional values that I still hold on to such as respect for my elders and so on -

However, personally speaking I don't think I would be the woman I am today if I had grown up in that patriachial society where a man gets to decide what's best for the woman (academics, marriage, career, independence)

Also, I grew up in several different countries, including the US, so I retain the cultures and language of each one -
