I am a relatively new writer (8 months) and got going with the small pubs who have been extremely supportive. I write for the medium and big pubs but my first love is def the small pubs( got a few articles with a 1000+ views with them :). I've also self published so it's been an interesting experience overall. I haven't had any editors change my work yet...
