I agree. In my culture it is more children should be seen and not heard and especially so in the case of girls - I would say it was a teep learning curve when I grew up because my parents did everything for me - I am not complaining but sometimes I wish they gave me more freedom to figure things out for myself instead of sticking to societal norms -it didn't help me much about life lessons -
