How true - in my culture it is the same, the first child shoulders a lot of responsibility for the sake of family and family expectations- I don't know if it has changed much over time but somehow I doubt it - a male friend of mine was responsible not only for his siblings' education but also taking care of their financial needs and also parents - it's a lot but surprisingly not uncommon
