I think I have 4 pinned and I'll explain why. For a person checking out my profile for the first time, just reading the latest published article may not appeal to them as I write in several niches and have niche specific audiences. So I give the new reader an overview - and they get to decide what they want to read. I have gained new readers solely based on the fact that I sometimes write for big pubs (go figure)

Yes, I have seen more than 8 stories pinned at a time on a writer's profile and that too from months ago that I don't feel like commenting even though I may like the story...
