Good friends would know how important your family is to you - they would not make what was supposed to be a fun getaway by making it conditional and unfair (payment wise). They clearly did not take your feelings or situation into consideration - can see why you feel hurt, disregarded and disrespected

I wouldn't invest in such friendships - good for you that you are letting go of friendships that are a one way street
